Business Model
The PEM system is not sold but leased. This will ensure that you only pay for equipment that is performing. You have no bulky installations that are expensive to remove, as is the case with groins and breakwaters.
The process of acquiring a PEM system is the following:
1. Initial Evaluation The site is evaluated and the client's expectations are matched against the expected performance of the PEM system. To do the evaluation we need site-specific information. Click here to see the information we are looking for.
This phase may involve a geological and hydrological investigation which will be perfomed by EcoShore International at a reduced fee.
2. Coastal Investigation Based on the initial evaluation, EcoShore International will undertake a comprehensive Coastal Investigation to ensure that the client gets value for money. This is done in close cooperation with the clients consulting engineer, who also prepares the permit application.
The Coastal Investigation involves the following:
-
Data collection and analysis of coastal processes, beach and offshore profiles
-
Sediment sampling and analysis
-
Design of the installation
-
Pre-installation survey of beach, sea floor and flanks
-
Installation of PEM in a grid
-
Logging PEM positions via GPS
-
Signage and information for the public
-
Mobilization/demobilization
-
Final clean-up of beach
-
12-months survey of beach, sea floor and flanks
You will receive:
–
The cost of the Coastal Investigation can be estimated when the beach is known.
3. Lease Plan PEMs are leased during the Coastal Investigation at the ordinary leasing fee.
If the result of the Coastal Investigation is satisfactory the lease is continued.
EcoShore International will replace any defect PEMs and conduct periodic monitoring. When you no longer want to lease the PEM system we remove it free of charge.
The cost of the lease will depend on a number of factors including the particular type of contract, the number of PEMs used, the length of contract period, and the size of the beach area to be protected. However, compared to traditional methods of beach re-nourishment the PEM system is very cost-effective.
If the result of the Coastal Investigation over a 12-month period is not satisfactory to both parties, the PEM system is removed free of charge, and no further obligations exist.
